So I managed to catch a glimpse of the 2006 GS Football schedule while lurking in the band director’s office today. Some of you may have heard that we’re moving to a different conference next year. I heard that too, and discounted it as a rumor, but evidently it’s not. The 2006 GS Football program will be part of the Greater Alleghenies Conference, here’s our schedule as it stands:
Sept. 1 – Hempfield
September 8 – Mount Pleasant
September 15 – @ Knoch
September 22 – Indiana
September 29 – @ Highlands
October 6 – @ Derry
October 13 – Pine Richland
October 20 – @ Hampton
October 27 – Franklin Regional
Unfortunately for us, this is actually a really hard conference. 2005 PIAA “AAA” Champions were Franklin Regional (who we are now playing as an actual conference match this year, instead of non-conference) and the conference also has several other teams who have gone pretty far in the playoffs in the past.
And from what I hear from my friends who play football, the team might be a bit better this year than last, but they still probably won’t be anywhere near as good as they have been in years past.
The one up-side however, is that this conference, while having some of the best AAA teams in the WPIAL, also has some of the best bands. Pine-Richland is FAMOUS for their all-girl dancing tuba line.
Unfortunately, there is another downside. We will be playing Highlands, which is a school from Natrona Heights (Armstrong County) and they are absolutely the only other school anywhere around that has Brown & Gold for their colors. Oh well..
I’m working on writing my marching band survival guide, it will be up on my website soon. It will never really be done, but I hope it’s something that we can show to freshmen and stuff, and be like “yah, this is how to do it.”
keep in mind
freshmen will ALWAYS screw up
ALWAYS cause drama
keep in mind
freshmen will ALWAYS screw up
ALWAYS cause drama
ALWAYS be a cause of lotttts of animosity
and we grow out of it.
so we can try to tell the freshies-of-tomorrow how to do it…
but the question is, will they listen?
cant wait for the new conference though. we get to see some different feilds for once. 😛
dammit. i guess you have three comments now.
sorry bout that
