I’ve read that when someone stops blogging for a while, it means they either have nothing going on in their life, or so much that they don’t have time to write. For me, it’s the latter, our school musical has been eating up all my time, and I’ve been hardly getting any sleep let alone time to blog. This afternoon, I got online with a specific topic in mind, but when I looked at some of the statistics for the blog, and read some of the comments, I felt I needed to post something different.
Many people have been stumbling across this blog because of references to the marching bands of Greensburg Salem and Hempfield Area High Schools, google shows dozens of hits from searches on the names of schools, band directors, and other search terms. My original “Lion Pride” post was meant to be a rebuttal to a comment on youtube, but has received almost fifteen comments (a record for this blog), many of which are interesting lessons in history, or thoughtful AND respectful rebuttals to my rebuttal.
Some of my harsher comments were definitely written in anger, but the truth is that both bands are pretty freaking sweet in their own ways. Hempfield definitely has more support from the school district and school board, and I can only dream of what we’d be able to do with a bigger budget from the school and a bit more recognition.
Anyway, I’m sorry to anyone from Hempfield I may have offended. I realize you folks work just as hard as we have to, and hopefully the two bands can have a better relationship in the future (I leave that task to the underclassmen, seeing as that I graduate this year.)
